Chocolate Gift Formats Explained: Alyoné Boxes, Trios and Bento Tins

A tasting box, a three-flavour selection and a Bento tin solve different gifting problems. At Alyoné, tasting boxes offer variety, build-your-own boxes focus on chosen flavours, trios give you a larger selection across separate boxes, and Bento keeps a chosen classic flavour in the original gold tin.

The name of a format should not leave you guessing about the order. Here are the distinctions worth checking before you add it to your basket.

Tasting boxes: the selection is already composed

Choose a tasting box when you want an assortment rather than to select each flavour. Classic contains 16 pieces across 11 flavours. Patisserie contains 16 pieces across six flavours. In both, selected flavours repeat.

The House Tasting combines one of each: two boxes and 32 pieces. The Gift & Keep Edit also contains two boxes and 32 pieces, but both are Classic Tasting Boxes. The quantity is the same; the contents are not.

Build your own: two flavours in equal quantities

With the Classic or Patisserie build-your-own option, you choose two flavours within the selected range. The split is equal:

  • 250 g: 16 pieces in total, eight of each flavour.
  • 500 g: 32 pieces in total, 16 of each flavour.
  • 1 kg: 64 pieces in total, 32 of each flavour.

This is useful when the recipient has favourites and an all-flavour assortment would introduce choices they are less likely to enjoy. It is flavour personalisation within the options shown, not an offer to change the recipe.

The Trio: read the weight per flavour

The Build Your Own Fudge Trio lets you choose three flavours. Its weight selector applies to each flavour, not to the combined order.

  • 250 g per flavour means 750 g total, three boxes and 48 pieces.
  • 500 g per flavour means 1.5 kg total, six boxes and 96 pieces.
  • 1 kg per flavour means 3 kg total, 12 boxes and 192 pieces.

This distinction matters if you are working to a quantity or refrigerator-space limit. Choose the option by the total you need, not just the first number in the selector.

Bento: a different presentation

The Fudge Bento Box presents a chosen classic flavour in the original gold tin, in 500 g or 1 kg. It is the option to look at when you specifically want the tin format.

Do not apply the counts from a tasting box or build-your-own selection to Bento unless its product page states them. Weight, presentation and portion count are related details, but they are not interchangeable.

Choose for how the gift will be used

For discovery, start with a tasting box. For two known favourites, build your own. For several boxes to share, consider the Trio and check the total carefully. For the original tin presentation, look at Bento.

Finally, check ingredient requirements, current delivery information and space to refrigerate the order. The most generous-looking format is not always the most practical one. A well-chosen chocolate gift should be easy to understand before it is opened, and easy to enjoy afterwards.
